# Write an ad campaign (prompt)

## When to use
- You are about to spend money on ads and want a plan first.
- You need ad copy and slogan options to test.
- You are choosing between ad platforms for a small budget.

## Steps
1. Fill in the brief: product, audience, budget, goal and where your customers spend time.
2. Run the prompt below and pick one or two channels to start, not all of them.
3. Launch two or three copy variants with a small daily cap, then keep the winner.
4. Check the results against the metrics in the plan after one or two weeks.

## Prompt
```text
Act as an experienced advertiser. Plan a campaign for:
- Product: {{PRODUCT AND WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT}}
- Target audience: {{WHO, AGE, WHERE}}
- Goal: {{SIGN-UPS / SALES / AWARENESS}}
- Budget and length: {{e.g. 500 dollars over 4 weeks}}
Give me:
1. AUDIENCE: 2 audience segments with their main problem and what would make them click.
2. MESSAGES: 3 key messages and 5 slogan options.
3. AD COPY: for each segment, 3 variants (headline under 40 characters, body under 125 characters, call to action).
4. CHANNELS: the 1-2 best channels for this budget, and why, plus one to skip.
5. BUDGET: a simple split by channel and week, with a daily cap.
6. MEASURE: the 3 numbers to track and what result would mean "stop" or "scale".
Keep claims honest. Do not promise results the product cannot deliver.
```

## How to adapt
- No budget yet? Replace BUDGET with "free ways to test these messages first".
- Local business? Add "people within 10 km of {{TOWN}}" to the audience.

## Gotchas
- Ad platforms reject misleading claims and some health, money and crypto ads. Read the platform's ad policy before launch.
- Set a spending cap in the ad account so a mistake cannot drain your card.
- Do not upload private customer email lists to an ad platform unless your privacy policy and their consent allow it.
- Works with any ad platform (Google, Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, Reddit). No platform lock-in.

## Done when
- You have one chosen channel, 2-3 copy variants, a daily cap and 3 numbers to watch.

## Example prompt
"Plan a small ad campaign for my meal-prep app with a 300 dollar budget."
